Martin Skrtel lifts the lid on what he really thinks of Jurgen Klopp

“Jurgen Klopp is a d*ckhead.” That’s how Skrtel signed off on his eight and a half year long Liverpool career with an ill-judged post on Instagram (Metro).

Of course, he went through the whole of charade of apologising publically, but the damage was done. He left for £5 million to Fenerbahce earlier in the summer as we brought in Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan to replace him.

He’s now opened up about what he really thinks of Jurgen Klopp, and to our pleasant surprise, he seems to quite like him!

“I am thankful to all the managers I worked with at Liverpool.

“Jurgen Klopp is a wonderful person but I feel if I stayed I couldn’t have played like before,” he said (via Express).

He then hinted about why he left, seeming to suggest it was mostly about wanting a fresh start rather than anything to do with Klopp.

“Eight and a half years, that’s a lot,” Skrtel said. “I wanted to change and also want a new challenge.”

“I’m a Liverpool fan from now on. It’d be great if we won two finals last year but these things happen. I hope they’ll win something in the future.”
