FIVE additional classrooms have been created at a school in Rednal as part of facilities unveiled ahead of the new academic year.

New classrooms at Rednal Hill Infant School, on Irwin Ave, were completed over the summer to provide new learning spaces for children from nursery through to Key Stage 1.

Headteacher Elaine Le Gros said: "We are delighted with our new building.

"It provides us with three rooms for reception, one for nursery and another for Key Stage 1.

"It will also create a lot more space for the children to learn in.

"We have been a building site for a year since work began in September so it is good to get it finally opened."

Children were invited to watch their old classroom demolished on Thursday, September 8 - helping to confirm it is out with the old and in with the new.

Mrs Le Gross added: "Morgan Sindall, the contractors, have worked closely with the school to ensure valuable learning opportunities have been shared as it is a once in a lifetime experience to see this develop.

"The children have gained a great deal from watching all the stages of the construction and demolition.

"I'm sure our children will be telling their own children about it in 20 years’ time!"
