Earlier this year, McFarlane told the outlet that he already had completed a script for the reboot, which suggests filming may not be too far off. "I've finished the script, and I'm in the process of editing," McFarlane said back in February. "It's 183 pages, and [producers] usually like 120. I still think it's going to end up being about 140, because I'm putting in details for myself."
He also said the movie will feature a world that will be entirely real, "except for one thing that's going to move." He also shared a some concept art for the character's design, saying that viewers won't be seeing a "dude in a rubber suit," as "this is going to be my Jaws shark."
This lines up with what McFarlane told ComicBook.com in an interview earlier this year, during which he revealed that Spawn won't look like he did in the original film, but will instead "be the spectre, the ghost." In fact, he likened the character to a boogeyman, saying, "In the background, there’s this thing moving around, this boogeyman. That boogeyman just happens to be something that you and I, intellectually, know is Spawn." Alex Osborn is a freelance writer for IGN.
