One killed, over 50 injured as fresh clashes erupt in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: One youth was killed and over 50 others, including a minor girl, were injured as fresh violence erupted in the Kashmir valley, where life remained crippled for the 54th day today when curfew has been completely lifted from all areas.

With the death of ”a youth the toll has risen to 71 since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag in south Kashmir, evoking spontaneous protests across the valley.

Two photo-journalists Farooq Javid Khan and Waseem Andrabi were also injured in the clashes in downtown. Authorities had imposed curfew in major parts of the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar and other district and tehsil headquarters after the death of Burhan. However, the curfew was relaxed and lifted in between, barring in downtown, Shehar-e-Khas (SeK), Anantnag, Pulwama and Pampore. (AGENCIES)
