HBO Now arrives on PS4 and PS3

HBO Now apps are now available on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, Sony announced today.

The service is launching on PlayStation platforms just in time for the premiere of Westworld, the biggest new show in HBO’s fall schedule, which airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT this Sunday, Oct. 2. HBO Go has been available on PS4 since March 2015.

Sony also added HBO and Cinemax to the channel lineup for PlayStation Vue today, and introduced a more expensive subscription tier that includes some premium channels. Known as "Ultra," the package consists of the 100-plus channels in the existing Elite tier along with HBO and Showtime — but not Cinemax. Ultra will cost $64.99 per month in most markets, and $74.99 in the seven cities where Vue offers live local broadcast stations: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco and Miami.

Vue customers who only want either HBO or Cinemax will be able to add each channel to their existing service tier — or subscribe only to the network in question, without signing up for a channel package — for $15 per month. Any Vue subscriber who gets HBO or Cinemax will be able to use their Vue login credentials with the networks’ streaming apps: HBO Go, HBO Now and Max Go.
