He follows a team of paramedics in an ambulance, eventually becoming a core member who bears witness to their perilous and heartbreaking rescue work. On 8 July 2014, 23 year old Mohamed Jabaly was making a documentary short film for his local hospital in Gaza when Israel began bombing Gaza in what would become known as the 2014 Gaza War. Jabaly persuaded the hospital director to grant him permission to ride with one of the hospital’s ambulances, something that he did every day for the 51 days that the war lasted, except for a couple of days in mid-August when his parents, from whom he had hidden what he was doing, found out and prevailed on him to stay at home after an ambulance and its crew were wiped out by an Israeli drone.

A Brief Glimpse Into Life - Film #3
I won‘t say much about this, because I simply can‘t. It shows the work of the ambulance crew during the war. Lots of horrible pictures of destroyed homes, dead and injured people and crying and fainting families. It‘s hard to look at at times, but an important and honest look at the horrors of war. You may already have seen something like it and it‘s the same general message, but everytime stuff like this gets to me.
Throws us into the chaos and devastation of wartime Gaza, and it's traumatic. Makes the other films seem irrelevant by comparison. No silly star rating, it doesn't seem appropriate, but this film should be seen.
First off, want to say that I respect the programmer’s choice to play this. I respect the director’s statement, wanting to depict both lives lost and heroes pushing through total danger to save lives when they could. Seeing the children near the end on Eid singing with hope was one of the best images I’ve seen recently. “Takbir!” followed by shouts of, “Allahu Akbar!” Very wondrous to hear, resistance in face of oppression. It was also interesting, especially in recent weeks, to see the border at Rafah, a zone of terror even a decade ago.
Unfortunately this is largely genocide porn. Sheer trauma, charred bodies and victimization of Palestinians. The point to wanting to “remember lives lost” would be better…
