I really like this series but I'm not going to lie, this hot and cold thing Aria has gong on with a certain pack member, is getting really old, really fast. I think it's unnecessary drama where there doesn't need to be any. Just figure it out already and move on..please, or all our sake.

Having said that though, I do like the characters but if Aria doesn't pull it together here quickly, I'm not sure I will read any of the other books.

Danielle Annett’s BURNED BY FIRE takes place following book 2, KISSED BY FIRE. Aria Naveed is hired to find a witchling child. She soon discovers that she is being held by the Human Alliance Corporation (HAC) and needs to be rescued. Simultaneously, she is dealing with her mating to Alpha, Declan Valkenaar, and pack issues. This urban fantasy is suitable for adults.

Danielle Annett continues to do a great job with her character development. Aria persists in growing her powers. She is also struggling with her unwanted mating to Declan. She is attracted to him but doesn’t know if it is because of the bond. She discovers some disturbing news that she is unsure of how to handle.

In the prior books, I didn’t trust Declan. My opinion of him has changed. I do like him and think his feelings for Aria are genuine. Being the Alpha of the Pacific Northwest Pack he has a lot of responsibility and a stressful job. Aria is adding to his stress.

I like that Aria hires Inarus as a mercenary. He ends up becoming a good friend to her. Furthermore, being a fellow psyker he is an excellent resource.

HAC makes an interesting opponent. Aiden can be a brutal individual. There were many interesting scenes with him, especially at the end of this story.

BURNED BY FIRE has an excellent plot. The novel is exciting from beginning to end. Danielle Annett does a great job of including information from the previous stories. I love the ending and cannot wait to find out what happens in the next book. If you haven’t read the previous books, I recommend starting with book one, CURSED BY FIRE, to become more invested in the series.

Aria is back and she is still kicking butt and the one person’s butt she would love to kick is her mate Delcan. Aria is not too thrilled about being mated to anyone much less Delcan; the Alpha of the Pact even though he mated with her to save her life. Aria is not up for being anyone’s little pup oh no she likes doing her own thing and she likes doing it when wants to do it and not when she is told to do it or on some else’s’ terms. With Delcan being an Alpha he likes to be in control of everything including Aria but that is not going to happen.

While Aria is having her little spat with Delcan and fighting against being his mate she has other problems outside the compound. Someone is after Aria why she doesn’t know but she is a stubborn and strong person and will not be taken without a fight. She also has Delcan and the Pack on her side to help keep her safe from whoever is after her. Delcan will tear anyone apart that lays a hand on Aria.

Aria is a strong person who can take care of herself yeah she has a little problem controlling her powers but she is practicing every day and getting stronger. Aria is a pyrokinetic and can create fire although she has a hard time of reining it in at times. And when she is under a lot of stress it wants to come to the surface all on its own without her calling it.

Meanwhile Aria is hired by a witch; a member of the Coven to find an eleven year girl who has been kidnapped. A few months back Aria was hired to find a seven year old boy who had been kidnapped but by the time she found him it was too late. She is determined that she will not let another child die if she can help it. The lady that has hired Aria to find the child knows about Aria being mated with the leader of the Pack and wants Aria’s help in obtaining the Pack’s help in locating the girl. She knows the only way Delcan will agree to help them is if Aria asks him.

The Pack, the Coven and the Vampires do not get along with each other very well although they do tolerate each other to keep the piece. Everyone knows that one day war will break out between the Pack, the Coven and the Vampires because all of them are leaders and wants to have the most power and to be the one in control.

I am very grateful for being given this opportunity to read Burned by Fire. Once I picked it up I raced right through it like a raging inferno. I think that Burned by Fire has been my favorite book in the Blood and Magic series so far and I can’t wait for more.

I love all the characters in the series and hope to find out more about them and their past as well. I like the fact that Aria and Delcan don’t get along very well in a way I can’t really blame Aria I think I would react the same way if I was in her position. Before Aria and Delcan mated I wanted it to be James the Pack’s Hunter and Aria’s best friend that she ended up with; although I do like Delcan now; I still have a soft spot for James.

If you like reading about shifters, witches, vampires and humans with special abilities then you are going to love Burned by Fire. But I would suggest that you start with book #1 Cursed by Fire and then Kissed by Fire Book #2 to get the whole story and so you will know what is going on and you won’t be left in the dark on a few things. I think I am hooked on the Blood and Magic series and can’t wait for the next book.

Burned by Fire by Danielle Annett a firelit five-star read. This is the third book in the Blood and Magic series, it tells the story of psyker Aria Naveed, a complicated girl with pyrotechnic ability’s, and some very complicated relationships, some complicated as they don’t know the true extent of her abilities like her friend Melody who is also a Harpy, some complicated as they don’t know the extent she is linked to another like her fellow psyker friend/colleague/one time kissing buddy Inarus, and some complicated as she won’t open her heart to what she is feeling her mate Declan Valkenaar. Most of all though is the complicated relationship with her mother who is Viola Reynolds the head of the Human Alliance Corporation (HAC).
In the previous books lots happened that led them to the point they are now, Inarus helped Aria by saving several shifter children, and Declan saved her life by mate claiming her to prevent her dying as she was about to die, both events have led to events that unfold in this book. Inarus needs her help now as he used to work for HAC but he turned his back on them to help Aria save the children and now they are trying to kill him, he turns up on her doorstep battered and bloody. Causing even more complications for Aria. As he now has no job or home, and people wanting to kill him, and she feels kind of responsible.
Adding more complications to the mix is a visit from the Evergreen Witches spokesperson Olivia Fields, people who never ask for help, asking for help from Aria to save a witchling child. Aria will need all the help that she can muster and there is a reason the witches asked Aria for help, they want special help that only she can access, due to her complicated relationships. Maybe she will start to get some benefits out of these relationships. Aria knows she will do anything to save this child, she wasn’t successful once before and failed to save a child, something no matter how many she saves or what she does she can’t forgive herself for.
This is an amazing third book in the series and I for one can’t wait to read book four and see what happens to Aria next.

Bruised and battered, Inarus shows up on Aria's doorstep, on the lam from the Human Alliance Corporation (HAC). He's now enemy number two (Aria is enemy number one) and HAC is hot on his trail. After a hot confrontation with Aidan, things go from bad to worse. A witch from the coven hires Aria to find a very special child and all signs point to HAC. Now she must go into the belly of the beast in order save this child - and she can't fail. There is a lot on the line.

I have been looking forward to Burned by Fire since July 2016 (that's when I finished Kissed by Fire, Book 2). Danielle Annett's series just keeps getting better with every novel. I enjoyed reading Burned by Fire and had it finished in 2 days. The book was so engaging, full of action, tension, and suspense that I had a hard time putting the book down in order to be a protective member of society.

The book is fast paced and easy to follow. Aria isn't the perfect heroine - in fact, she's extremely flawed. She's had a very tumultuous life thus far and a blast from her past makes things a bit hard for her. Aria is as badass as ever and growing stronger everyday. She has her own power and is able to draw on Declan's shifter power, as well. Her relationship with Declan is tumultuous but there are some moments that lead me to believe the best is yet to come with them.

The world created by Danielle Annett in the Blood and Magic series is standard for urban fantasy novels. Burned by Fire is a wonderful addition to the urban fantasy genre. I liked the continued development of Aria and Declan's mate bond. He's not there to control her (although, I think she would beg to differ) but support her in a way that she's not used to. Aria, though, learns a few things that may cause any development to take a huge fall backwards. There are action sequences that deliver and keep the reader engaged. All-in-all I found Burned by Fire to be a great third book in the Blood and Magic series.

Bring on Book 4!

Burned by Fire is book 3 in the Blood and Magic series by Danielle Annett

Aria has pyrokientic abilities that are getting stronger and more difficult to control. On a mission from the Witches to save another child from the HAC with the help of Inarus and the pack.

It’s not only Inarus that the HAC are interested in now, the child has unseen before powers that they want and Aria refuses to let them have. With tension mounting in the pack, Aria must succeed.

Declan has mated with Aria but she is fighting the bond that holds them together, with other pack members taking a dislike to Aria, it’s not helping Declan’s cause to make Aria see her true feelings, and this stress is making Aria’s powers become more difficult to control.

Danielle Annett has got a wonderful book her full of passion, anger and tension, I love it! having not read the other two books first I could still follow the story but wish I had read them first to get the whole picture. I love that Aria is a strong female character that can hold her own and has the fear of people around her that she has earned. I like her relationship with Inarus, the tension that you know is a new-found friendship but works for both mutually. I like Declan’s character, feel he is strong and powerful and I feel him and Aria will work if she gives him a chance. As soon as I read the last words, I had to read the next book, I need to know what happens next, so if you hate cliff-hangers this is not the book for you. It ended with a gasp, did like this book, I think I will now go read book one and two and pray that four comes out soon. Defiantly worth 5 stars!

Kindle Unlimited.

I'd give this 2.75 stars, if I could. The grammatical issues were prominent enough to detract from the story for me. Had the next book been available on Kindle Unlimited, I'd probably continue with the series, but I'm not invested enough to purchase the book.

The plot lines are interesting, but I want more out of the characters, and there are still issues with the world building. Half the time no one knows about psykers, and Aria's power is top-secret, and other times, she's ok letting the whole world know.

It's weird that we never see Aria and Declan get to know each other. In book one, or book 2, she guesses that he's in his fifties, but in this books, he's in his thirties, but we never find out how she knows that. As a reader, I'm never given the chance to see their relationship grow. Also, the mate bond thing bothered me. Aria's reaction to it was one thing, but in all her insecurities she never wonders about how HE'S handling it. That selfishness makes her seem really young. Also, the fact that we have random chapters from Declan's point of view would be great...if they added insight to the story, but they don't. I don't feel like I know anyone outside of the action.

I really enjoyed this book! I haven't had the pleasure of reading the first two books but I think I just might. The story was fast paced and easy to get into and enjoy. I loved the concept and the characters, mainly Inarus.
I loved how real the characters felt and had no problem liking Aria. She was definitely a fun kickbutt fighter!
I definitely can't wait to see what happens next in this exciting fantasy world full of all kinds of interesting paranormal beings.

What just happened?!
Aria and Declan are mated, but she is still fighting it with everything in her. The battle between them is effecting them both.
So much happening now that it is mind boggling. The characters are more tightly woven than ever.
They gain new alliances and have to deal with old enemies. Will they live through what is coming?
The complex twists and turns make it impossible to put the book down until you are through.
The story is far from over. I can't imagine what will happen next, but I can't wait to find out!

A strong third installment!

This is the third book in this series and while it is not strictly necessary to read the first two the reader will get more out of the story. There is plenty of action, magic, and drama. The characters are well-developed. There are a lot of different paranormal beings. The book does end on a cliffhanger.
I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

This is the first book I've read in this series and as stated it can be read as a standalone. That being said I enjoyed this story so much I want to purchase the first 2 books in this series and I'll be looking for any others as well. Tons of emotion, action and suspense; what a combo! I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

When is the next book coming out? I can honestly say this is my favorite of this series so far. To actually see and grow with Aria. Why she seems to be always angry. You actually get to see compromise and some softness. Which actually made me like her. Now I want to know what is going to happen. Hopefully not to long of a wait.

burned by Fire

4 Stars
burned by Fire is the third book of the blood and magic series, written by Danielle Annette. I recommend you read the first two books in the series to know all the characters and background from the beginning. this is my first book from the author and she spins this magiCal tale with mythical creatures with their own powers in its own society. one day she finds inarus on her porch beaten and bloody and she vows to help him. inarus used to work for the human alliance corporation that aria's mother is their leader. the witches hire aria to find and save a witchling child who the human alliance corporation has kidnapped. aria must go deep into enemy territory to find the child, who supposedly has powers that no one has ever seen. aria works with her friend inarus to help her find the child who has his own problems since the human alliance corporation is hunting for him.
aria has been mated to Declan who just kisses her off since she had no say in the matter. he comes clean about wanting to use her as a weapon for the pact, but his feelings have changed. but aria feels betrayed and for her betrayal runs deep. as we see aria does not back down from a fight and is loyal toner friends. she is also trying to get used to being declan's mate and is unsure whether or not she can trust him. she has feelings for him she does not understand, but being mated to a shifter gives her responsibilities she is unsure she is ready for.
the book has action, excitement, alphas and shifters. this is an urban fantasy where characters are powerful and feed off each other's powers. it has you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering who will be left standing and who will fall. what will aria risk to save this child.

Well Worth Reading This Magic, Shifter and Psi Powers Story

Expect a terrific cliffhanger in a very entertaining story. You have your shifters and their Alpha is mate to a not quite human woman with some real powers. In the beginning she can cause fires but her power has a lot of limits. Due to her mate bond she learns she can draw pack power, due to what her mother does she starts having powers she doesn't know what to do with. More than she can control just as the little witch girl she saved foretold. This young woman fights for those that can't fight for themselves but there are those who don't want those with powers around and she finally has to face that her mother is one of them. She has friends who care and want to help but she fights it with everything she has as she doesn't want anyone to control, tell her what to do, or really help her because she wants to do everything by herself. Will she ever learn that someone helping you doesn't mean you are weak? This is well worth reading but does depend on other books to continue the story. If you don't mind a cliffhanger this part of the story does finish but will continue in another book.

*I received a free digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.*

With the fascinating urban fantasy Burned by Magic, we once again return to Danielle Annett's world of Blood & Magic.

In the world of Blood & Magic, paranormal beings have integrated into society. Along with humans you'll find vampires, shifters, mages, witches, and more. But as with the previous two books, things aren't going all that smoothly. Speaking of the previous books, Cursed by Fire and Kissed By Fire, I highly recommend you read both of them first so you can understand and appreciate this story fully. I'm going to try my best not to spoil anything from any of the books here in my review, but it will be difficult because they are all so connected.

Following the events of the first two books, Burned by Magic finds pyrokinetic Aria struggling to adjust to her new reality while still running Sanborn Place, a paranormal mercenary firm. She also must protect a former enemy as well as herself while trying to figure out the Human Alliance Corporation's endgame. To complicate matters even further for Aria she must deal with some rather tense relationships throughout the book.

We get to see many of the familiar faces from the previous books as well as meet a few new ones. I love the characters in this story and feel for Aria because she has so much on her young shoulders. And on top of someone being after her and wishing to harm her, she has to deal with complicated relationships with the males in her life. It'd be almost too much for a normal person to handle so it's a good thing that Aria is anything but ordinary.

Danielle Annett has created a fascinating world filled with intriguing characters that I would love to know even more about. The PSY abilities and different types of paranormals were quite interesting. I love the variety of characters throughout the story. It seems like you discover something new about the rules and characters of this urban fantasy world with each page.

And while it does answer some questions from previous books, the story almost felt too short, really. I wanted more of this world and characters. I eagerly look forward to what the author has in store for Aria and her friends.

FOUR STARS
Burned by Fire by Danielle Annett is the third book in the Blood and Magic series, preceeded by Cursed by Fire, and Kissed by Fire. It is a FOUR STAR read for me. Even having not read the first two books I was able to follow what was going on and able to quickly see the dynamic of the characters involved and how they related with each other.
Aria runs Sanborn Place and does some investigative work as well as just general things people hire her company to do. Inarus is a close friend of hers and he has gotten into a fight and is near death at the beginning of this book. Being mated to a shifter she has responsibilities that she is not ready for. Not to mention that he “mated/bonded” to her without her consent. Yes she has feelings for Declan but that doesn’t mean she is ready to forgive him for his actions.
This book contains a lot of paranormal. Pshychokinetics, shifters, witches, trolls, water nymphys, and of course humans. They do not normally interact but this is a case where a witch approaches Aria to hire her to help enlist the shifters to find a missing witch child. Aria being mated to the head to the Pack in their location has agreed to try to enlist their help. In exchange the witch has promised to help them if they ever needed.
A well written book that contains lots of action, Missing persons, back-stabbing, many bloody fights. I have become entrigued and will be looking for books one and two so that I can continue this series. I wasn’t really lost even starting at book three. But it does leave you wanting to know what will happen in the next book.

What a wonderful story full of magic, chaos, and power from all kinds of individuals who are on the paranormal side of things. I think this story is well written from what I understood of it. This is most definitely a story that should be read in sequence is called “Burned By Fire” which is the third book in a series called, “Blood and Magic”. I just went and bought the first book called, “Cursed By Fire” which is the first book of “Blood and Magic”. I want to read the series from the beginning to a better jist of what is going on with the story. This series reminded me of another series with a famous character called, Stephanie Plum. The difference with these stories is it’s filled with magic and extra ordinary power that I loved reading.

I got the impression from this story that the character Aria is someone who just falls in to trouble at the drop of a hat. She can’t help it. Every time she turns around there is some sort of drama that needs to be dealt! Poor thing. She was constantly in the mist of sexy men who were adding to the drama. You couldn’t help but see the humor in what the author wrote as well in regards to Ms. Aria.

Loved all the detail filled this book. Characters were great! Not sure who my favorite is! I think I just love all of them! Story flowed nicely! Lots of action which hypes up all of the drama that occurs on each page. Of course, there is a lot of sexual chemistry to page the story steamy! How could I not give this story five stars! The cover was also beautiful and mystical.

Phenomenal job Danielle Annett!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aria is still trying to get used to being the Alpha shifter's mate, and when a witch uses that to her advantage to have Aria help find a child things get a little complicated. Aria's mother is coming back into play, and the tension between Aria and her mate is an ultimate high, things just aren't looking good. But, Aria will put it all to the side to try to save this child that is missing.

This book was really good! I was annoyed with Aria at times, it felt like she just kept pushing her mate away for no good reason, but I did like how that turned out. And I couldn't believe how it ended either, now I'm super excited to read the next one!

Aria has a lot going on . She goes to her apartment and finds Inarus in her apartment with a lot of blood She feels she owes it to him to help him. She goes to her business and someone has broken in and sitting waiting for her. Its the head witch and if that isn't enough she wants her to use her influence with her mate to find a missing girl. Half the pack is giving her grief . Her mating is something she never asked for . and she finds out that her mate is using her and the pack has company coming ,Theer is a trader among us. what else can come up and go wrong. I enjoyed reading this book and I have to hurry and read the next one because I definitely need to find out what happens next.

It keeps getting better

So in my review of book one I said it was like The Hallows and Kate Daniels got together and made a beautiful book together. It still feels that way. These books are NOT stand alone, every one of them is a cliffhanger, and every one of them is leading up to a major showdown. Also they are intriguing, so block out plenty of time, cause you won't be able to stop once you start.

Aria

The witches ask for help when one of their children is kidnapped. They ask for an alliance with the pack. Inagus starts working for Aria, and helps them find the little girl. Aiden tries to kidnap Aria and enlists the visiting Alpha to help. Arias' Mother tries to purify the pyrokenesis out of her with Aidens help. When she resists, she pulls his telekinesis power into herself and now barely has any control over any of her power.

So. It's hard to rate this book because it is a weird combination of plagiarism and fan fiction/mash up. I felt guilty reading it.

I don't know if it was laziness (in not putting the effort in crafting her own world) or Danielle Annett thinking imitation is the sincerest form of flattery literally... ha literar-ly (I'm sorry that was a terrible pun I'm ashamed of myself). It is like she took her favorite parts of other series and mashed them together to twist it into something she calls her own. Issue being you can't really turn other people's work into your own.

Here's the problem, it's not bad BUT if you took out all the other author's tidbits I don't know how much book you'd have left. You'd lose at least the two main characters, the factions, the Lyc-V/pack structure, the psychic part, some of the dialogue(direct quotes, I mean really?), arguably also the villainous organization as well... and no one has really put this out there but probably the dynamic between the main characters.

I felt guilty reading it- but again it's not bad. I'd say I liked it-probably because it pulls from authors- Ilona Andrews and Nalini Singh, mehbe a little Anne Bishop. And I love their works.

There was a snippet of originality in there somewhere that I did like- it's solid UF- unfortunately it's existence makes you question what is wrong with everyone that let this intellectual property theft out into the world unchallenged. If she/they get the sh*t sued out of her, I'd say she clearly has it coming.
