Corrupt gov't employees will be assigned in Sulu, Basilan — Duterte

President Rodrigo Duterte has warned that corrupt government employees will be assigned in a far-flung province in Mindanao, particularly in Sulu province.

"To all employees of government, huwag nyo akong hiyain dito," he said during a press conference held at the Davao International Ariport upon arriving from his first working trip abroad.

"Huwag ninyong galawin ang maliit na tao, kasi sila ang nangangailangan ng gobyerno," he added.

He said it is the public that suffers from the graft and corruption committed by government employees.

"Wala na nakapahuway ang tawo sa iyang kalisod. There is no respite to the hardships of the Filipino people," he added.

Duterte noted that the public is forced to shell out money just to get public documents, including copies of birth certificates and driver's license.

Another anti-corruption measures is the installatio of closed circuit cameras in government offices.

"I will place cameras there, like a Gestapo. And it's perfectly alright for me. Why? (Because) this is government. This is not a private enterprise. There is no such thing as a violation of privacy there," said the President.

"Kung sa gobyerno ka, it must be open," he added.

The agencies that would be closely monitored include airports, the Bureaus of Customs, Quarantine, and Immigration.

"I am planning to put an extension office of the national government, I plan to put it in Basilan or Jolo. Be my guest, I will be happy to assign you there," he warned.

Duterte also warned businessmen that he wants to put an end to contractualization.

"One day i might just decide to go to you and close your store," he said. — BAP, GMA News
