16 Senators Who Voted To Oust De Lima As Chairperson Of Senate Committee

There are 16 Senators who voted to oust or remove the chairmanship and memberships of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights vacant after Senator Manny Pacquiao declared the motion, Monday, September 19, 2016.

Senator Leila De Lima was the chairperson of the said Senate committee, who started the Senate investigation on the alleged extrajudicial kil1ings pointing to President Rodrigo Duterte’s fierce war on illegal drugs on the Philippines.

According to a report by Inquirer, there are only for senators who voted against the motion declaring all position of the committee vacant. While Senator Ralph Recto and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV did not participate in the voting.

16 Senators Who Voted

The senators who voted against the motion include senators Franklin Drilon, Bam Aquino, Kiko Pangilinan, and Riza Hontiveros. All the three senators excluding Hontiveros from Akbayan, were from the Liberal Party.

After the motion was approved, Senate Majority Leader Tito Sotto elected Senator Richard Gordon to take the vacant position of the committee.

The motion has been declared by Pacquiao after an event happened wherein De Lima walked out of the room while Cayetano is giving his privilege speech.
