Professor Sunit Singhi, former Head, Department of Paediatrics, PGI, was awarded the IXth Dr K.C. Chaudhuri Lifetime Achievement Award-2016 for excellent services to paediatrics and paediatric critical care during a function held in Delhi on September 18.
In recognition of his lifetime stellar contributions to promote intensive care and emergency medicine in India and leadership role in establishing new specialties of paediatrics, the Indian Journal of Paediatrics presented Professor Sunit C Singhi its foremost award – Dr KC Chaudhuri Oration – Lifetime Achievement Award for-2016.
Prof Singhi successfully established India’s first Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the PGI and played a leading role in developing the super-specialty of Paediatric Critical Care and Emergency Care in India by training numerous paediatricians.
He conducted over 100 paediatric advanced life support courses all across the country and trained thousands of paediatricians in resuscitation.
He started postdoctoral super-specialty DM courses for the first time in the country in Paediatric Critical Care, Hemato-Oncology, Neurology, Immunology and Rheumatology, among other accomplishments.
