A City worker raped a comatose woman in a stockbrokers' office after an impromptu cocaine and champagne-fuelled binge, a court has heard.

Stockbroker Daniel Green, 26, allegedly attacked the young woman while she was asleep under a desk in his office block following a late-night drinking session in central London.

The Old Bailey heard how the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, woke up on the floor of Green's workplace StratX to find him pulling off her trousers and knickers.

Despite her repeatedly saying no, he continued to rape her and only stopped when she began to cry, the jury was told.

Green is alleged to have then fled the office, leaving the woman crying and alone.

Prosecutor Timothy Forster told the jury that the woman had been out drinking with a friend in the City to celebrate a good week in May 2015 when she met Green and his other work colleagues.

Mr Forster said: 'He was just one of a number of men from Stratx out drinking in the same area.

'And so it was that the two women eventually ended up with a group of the defendant and a number of other people from his company.

'They went from one bar to the other. It is common ground that everyone in this case was consuming alcohol.'

The court was told how the alleged victim and her friend started taking cocaine and that Mr Green also may have consumed the drug.

Mr Forster said somebody in the group then suggested they return to the Stratx office, near Monument Station, where they continued drinking champagne.

The court was told how eight people returned but that by 4am it was just the alleged victim, her friend, Green and another man.

Mr Forster said it was 'good natured' and that the woman eventually crawled under a desk and fell asleep, planning to wake up for the first train home that morning.

About two hours later, Green entered the office.

Mr Forster said: 'She was lying under the desk in the gloom of the office fast asleep, and suddenly she feels somebody pulling at her lower clothing.

'She can see its Mr Green because there's enough light to do that. And he pulls off her trousers and her knickers.

'As she realises what he is doing, she starts saying to him "no" and she repeats that, but he carries on.

'All the time, she is saying "no". It is only, it appears, when she actually bursts into tears that he stops.

'He then got up and left her in the room quietly sobbing in the gloom of the office.'

Green left the building, and the victim called another friend on her mobile, who contacted the police, it was said.

Police arrived at the scene, she told them what had happened and Green was arrested later that day at his home in Walthamstow, north east London.

He was later told the victim's DNA had been recovered from his boxer shorts, the court heard.

Green denies one count of rape and the trial continues.
