Tiago Ilori Reportedly Attempting to Force Loan Move

If a permanent deal is impossible, the Liverpool defender at least wants to leave on loan.

Earlier today, despite interest from Granada, it appeared that Tiago Ilori was set to spend the season stuck in the reserves at Liverpool. This was because the club were determined not to sell the 23-year-old centre half on the cheap or to allow him to exit on loan.

They wanted to make back the £7M they spent to bring him to the club in 2013, and nobody was willing to pay that much. Granada, for their part, was willing to pay around £3M or to take him on loan. Neither option was considered acceptable to Liverpool.

Now, though, there are rumours beginning to surface that the defender is pushing hard for the club to let him go on loan, believing that playing in the reserves for a year at Liverpool would do no good for either his own prospects or for his transfer value.

If he gets his way, Granada would make sense as a late suitor. So too might Valencia, who have been linked with Ilori this summer and recently sold Shkodran Mustafi to Arsenal. The question now is can Ilori force a move, and if he can, will it get done in time.
