Today, we are excited to be participating in the OCP Technology Day, an event at Facebook’s Menlo Park, Calif., campus, focused on enabling software solutions on Open Compute Project (OCP) hardware. The Open Compute Project aims to help advance energy efficiency in global datacenters by redefining how they are designed and built through open source principles like collaboration to enable faster innovation.
As Facebook describes in a blog post today, Red Hat has successfully deployed and tested several Red Hat technologies with OCP hardware, including: Ansible by Red Hat; Red Hat CloudForms; Red Hat Enterprise Linux; Red Hat Gluster Storage; and Red Hat OpenStack Platform.
At the OCP Technology Day, we'll be talking about these certifications, and Red Hat’s work to bring open source software to open hardware, including our work in upstream communities like OpenStack, ManageIQ, Gluster, Ceph, and Ansible.
Time and again, transparency, participation, and collaboration have proven their ability to produce innovations faster. Look around, and you’ll find open source everywhere - the web, your phone, Internet-of-Things (IoT) connected devices and more. And the Open Compute Project illustrates how the tenets of open source can enable innovation in hardware as well. Red Hat is proud to collaborate with the OCP community to bring the best of open source software to open hardware to in support of this innovation.
