Analysis of HIV incidence among MSM in Xi’an,2013-2015

Abstract: Objective To analyze human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection situation of men who have sex with men(MSM),and estimate HIV incidence among MSM.Methods 4cross-sectional sentinel surveys were conducted during 2013-2015,and 2441 MSM were investigated and received serological tests.HIV positive samples were tested with BED HIV-1IgG capture enzyme immunoassay(BED-CEIA)to estimate HIV incidence in MSM.Results The average age of 2441 cases was 28.95±7.52(16-70),69.8% was unmarried,99.2% was Han,84.2% was registered residence of Shaanxi province,81.3% was living in the province more than two years,78.1% had college education level or above,73.4%considered themselves as homosexual,83.6% preferred making friends online.HIV/AIDS knowledge awareness was 85.8%.179 cases were screened as HIV positive,with the rate of 7.33%.158 screened HIV positive samples accepted BED test and 71 cases were found newly infected,with the incidences of 7.20%(95%CI:3.41%-10.99%),9.18%(95%CI:5.06%-13.31%),6.85%(95%CI:3.09%-10.60%),4.88%(95%CI:1.84%-7.92%)respectively.The total HIV incidence rate was 7.00%(95%CI:5.11%-8.90%).Condom use with temporary anal sexual partners last 6months,rush popper use last 6months,HIV test last year and result of syphilis test were influence factors of HIV new infection.Conclusion The AIDS prevention measures are effective in Xi’an,but intervention still needs to be strengthened to contain HIV spreading.
