Abstract: AIM To evaluate the effect of intervention by clinical pharmacists on the antipsychotics of off-label drug use( OLDU) in Alzheimer’s disease( AD) patients. METHODS The prescriptions were selected in the first half of2014,and the OLDU was analyzed according to the package inserts in the following aspects,the type of OLDU,classified by month and professional titles. The prescriptions of OLDU in order were intervened to evaluate the discrepancy of the notice and telephone. RESULTS Of the total 3 095 prescriptions,648( 20. 94%) involved OLDU. The problems such as indications( 59. 72%),frequency( 17. 90%) and suitable crowd( 12. 04%) were the top-three types of OLDU. Two kinds of interventions both had a good effect,but the notice was superior to the telephone( P < 0. 05). CONCLUSION The notice is more effective than the telephone by clinical pharmacists on the antipsychotics of OLDU in AD.
