Bato dela Rosa: Prosecutor receiving P600M a year from drugs now under investigation

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa said on Thursday they are now investigating a prosecutor allegedly receiving P600 million a year from illegal drug operations.

"Maraming piskal nababayaran (ng drug lords) kaya yung kaso n'yo (drug users at pushers) hindi nagpo-prosper," Dela Rosa said in his speech before drug suspects who surrendered in Bacolod City.

He did not name the prosecutor.

He said the drug lords are now controlling many sectors in the country, including judiciary, politics, and even the police.

“May judges na pasok na pasok, kayang bayaran yung kaso n’yo kaya nada-drop. Naabswelto ang kaso dahil nababayaran sila,” he said.

However, not all of those in the judiciary give in to the drug lords as he noted the case of a Supreme Court justice who was threatened by drug lord convicted of a crime and is now detained at the National Bilibid Prison.

He noted that many local government officials are controlling the illegal drug trade in their respective areas.

Dela Rosa said the current drug situation in the country could not be blamed to a single sector as the whole country contributed to it somehow.

Kasalanan nating lahat,” he said. — VVP, GMA News
