STARTLING new evidence has linked the infamous shooting of rap superstar Tupac
Shakur to gang bangers from the mean streets of LA.
In a new video ‘Death of a Warrior Poet’ cops tell how in the days after the
star’s murder dozens of attacks were launched between Bloods and Crips in
Compton.
And the clip, released on Craveonline , reveals when cops raided one gang
safehouse they found a bag of machine guns carrying a tag with a Las Vegas
address linked to Tupac.
One detective revealed: “Within two weeks we saw non-stop violence and
shooting back-and-forth betweeen the South Side Crips and the Bloods.”
The 26-year-old Harlem-born superstar was cruising down the Las Vegas strip in
a BMW 750 being driven by Marion “Suge” Knight, head of Death Row Records,
when he was gunned down in 1996.
When gunmen in a white Cadillac pulled up to the passenger side of his car
Tupac frantically tried jumping into the back seat.
But in a barrage of 13 shots, one hit Tupac in the hand, another in the
pelvis, two more penetrated his chest.
Six days later he was pronounced dead.
Six months after Tupac’s death, on March 9, 1997, his pal turned rival The
Notorious B.I.G. was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles,
California.
To this day, police have no idea who killed either star.
Tupac’s murder has sparked dozens of conspirary theories and some of the
biggest names in music have been linked to the killing.
Even P Diddy was accused of hiring hitmen to kill the 25-year-old. An
allegation he strongly denies.
But now new evidence claims his killers were hate-filled gang bangers from one
of the US’s roughest ‘hoods’.
In the fortnight after the killing, the Compton Gang Unit raided 35 homes and
seized dozens of AK47s and semi-automatic guns.
The video – commissioned by Vanity Fair – tells how after the notorious
killing police saw an explosion of violence in Compton.
A “main player” was shot in the back and many other “soldiers”
on both sides of the long-running street war were also killed.
Although Tupac had no official links to either gang, both sides have claimed
him as one of their own in the past.
He made a point of wearing the colours of both sides and friends insist he did
not have links either faction.

Steven Weinstock, CEO of True Entertainment who made the video, explained: “In
this episode, we peel back each complex layer of the crime and incorporate
added perspective from officers assigned to the case, witnesses and others
from Tupac’s world to examine what really happened that night in Las Vegas.
“I think viewers will be surprised by the volume of evidence uncovered by
law enforcement and how close they’ve come to closing the case.”
