This week, a meteor shower will light up the night sky with cosmic fireworks. It will be a dazzling display for skygazers across the Northern Hemisphere.

How much do you notice the sky in general? When have you ever seen something especially interesting or memorable when you looked at it?

Tell us in the comments, then read a related article about the 160 to 200 meteors that will ignite in Earth’s atmosphere every hour during the display’s peak on Thursday night and Friday morning.

Note to teachers: We are experimenting this month by posting these daily, accessible image-driven writing prompts that link to related Times articles.

Let us know what you think and how you might use them. Should we add this feature to our regular lineup for the fall?
