Even a harmless game of fetch with your dog can go spectacularly wrong.

They are naturally inquisitive creatures, which can lead to a brilliantly awkward situation if one comes across a massive, massive dildo while out for a walk.

Not only did that happen when Chocolate Labrador Galaxy found a sex toy, but he took a liking to it, carrying it around in his mouth for about half an hour.

The bizarre find left dog walkers Amy Brown and Natalie Ferguson ‘in stitches’, so much so that they brought it back to show Galaxy’s owner Ami Harrison.

After having a laugh, Ami threw it in the bin – only for her husband Ste to fish out later and donate it as a prize for his football’s club golf tournament.

Natalie said she and Amy were walking Galaxy in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, when he made the discovery.

She said: ‘I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. Galaxy was coming towards it and I turned to Amy and said: ‘That’s not a…surely that’s not a…’

‘I couldn’t even get my words out. I was gobsmacked. Galaxy obviously didn’t have a clue and was just strutting round like it was the most normal thing in the world.

‘We couldn’t believe it. He was so proud when he brought it over to us. We were looking at it thinking: ‘That’s impossible’. It was enormous.

‘Me and Amy were in stitches. We would normally put things in the bin if the dogs pick them up but Galaxy carried it round for about half an hour.

‘She took a look at it and by that point there was three of us girls standing around laughing at a dog with a dildo. It was all quite bizarre.’

Sensing an opportunity for some top bants, Ste decided the discarded dildo should be a trophy at Vulcan FC’s fundraising golf tournament.

The member was presented to the winning pair, which turned out to be Ste and Billy Johnson – and now proudly sits in the football club’s trophy cabinet at The Wargrave Inn.

Ste, a plumber, said: ‘I ended up being in the winning pair. We posed for some pictures and now it’s on display at the pub we all go to.

‘It has been washed.’
