Tyler Posey of MTV’s Teen Wolf took to Twitter to apologize for a recent Snapchat that many interpreted as his coming out.

“I am a big proponent of love over hate, and standing together during divisive times,” he wrote in a series of tweets. “Although I’m not gay, I fully support the LGBTQ community. This was a moment intended to reflect that. And everyone, I am truly sorry to the people I’ve offended or lessened how big coming out is. I just want to spread love in this world.”

While hanging with friends on Friday, Posey posted a video to Snapchat showing the 24-year-old standing in front of a sign for Gay Street. “This is me. I am this and this is me. I’ve never felt more alive,” he said before yelling, “I’m gay!”

Posey’s former Teen Wolf costar Colton Haynes came out during an interview with EW earlier this year. “It was a complete shock. I wasn’t ready to be back in the headlines,” he said of previous rumors. “I should have made a comment or a statement, but I just wasn’t ready. I didn’t feel like I owed anyone anything. I think in due time, everyone has to make those decisions when they’re ready, and I wasn’t yet.”

Charlie Carver is another Teen Wolf alum who came out, after which Posey told Larry King, “I’ve known. That’s so great, man. I had no idea [he came out].” He later added, “I think it’s getting easier and easier to do for people. The other day I was driving by these two kids wearing backpacks, in high school, and they were holding hands, boys, and I loved it. It was so cool, man. I really dug it.”
