Donald Trump asked to stop using Air Force One theme song

One of the producers of Air Force One is trying to ground Donald Trump from using the 1997 action movie’s theme song on the campaign trail.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, producer Gail Katz has sent a letter to the Republican presidential nominee’s campaign insisting that Trump stop playing the stately score of the Harrison Ford thriller, which was composed by the Oscar-winning composer Jerry Goldsmith.

“Jerry’s music was hijacked in a misguided attempt to associate Trump with the film and the President in that film,” Katz wrote in the letter, adding that the filmmakers were not asked for permission to use the music.

“We sincerely hope that Donald Trump and the Republicans do not use the Air Force One score in the future. It is a misappropriation of the music and the good will of the film, and we want to make sure that it does not imply any endorsement of the Republican ticket by the filmmakers.”

Katz also concluded by paraphrasing a line from the movie: “Stay off our plane!”

Trump has played the Air Force One theme at several campaign rallies, and most recently used it for his arrival at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Katz isn’t the only party to object to Trump’s musical choices. Artists including the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, R.E.M., Adele, and Everlast have asked him to curtail the use of their songs in his campaign.
