Mouser adds SPICE simulation to MultiSIM PCB tool

The latest MultiSIM BLUE version of the NI Multisim circuit design tool which is available from Mouser Electronics is the Premium version features a Berkley SPICE simulation environment.

Mouser adds SPICE simulation to MultiSIM PCB tool

This can be used to design and simulate circuits before laying them out in physical prototypes.

Also to help with organising schematics, hierarchical design capabilities have been added so engineers can incorporate classification blocks in place of a circuit and then repeat it in other parts of the design to save time.

The new Premium version also includes forward and backward annotation capabilities, allowing engineers to transfer changes from a schematic to a PCB layout environment or from layout to schematic.

Mouser Electronics has been providing the MultiSIM BLUE free PCB design tool, developed by National Instruments, for two years.

The NI MultiSim Component Evaluator Mouser edition uses the Berkeley SPICE simulation engine and includes a preloaded component library from the distributor’s linecard.

MultiSIM BLUE supports pre-layout design convergence analysis and mixed-signal simulation, and can handle components as complex as BGAs with over 1,000 pins on-pin-pitches down to 0.8 mm.

The tool also provides a 3D visualization of the PCB with no limits on the shape and size of the PCB. The PCB layout function allows up to 64 layers, and is compatible with standard output file types including Gerber 274X and 274D, DXF, 3D DXF, 3D IGES and IPC-D-356A Netlist for easy design output and verification.

The Mouser community website provides the engineer with documentation, downloads, video tutorials and user forums.
