Theft suspect makes his getaway in an electric scooter

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department is in search of a suspect who made his getaway in a electric scooter.

A man is a suspect in two robbery attempts at a southwest side Walmart Neighborhood Market, according to a release from the Pima County Sheriff's Department. The man is also wanted in connection to a theft on July 2, at the same store.

Deputies with the San Xavier District responded to the 2823 W. Valencia Road Walmart for the report of a theft, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 3.  According to the release the man placed items in the basket of a gray scooter and then tried to leave the store without paying for the merchandise.

A Walmart employee tried to stop the man from leaving the store, when the suspect tried to pin her to the wall with the scooter.  She was able to free herself with the help of two bystanders. According to the release the man then left the store, still riding the scooter.  He was last seen heading westbound on Valencia Road toward Cardinal Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 40s to early 50s, with brown hair and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a read University of Arizona baseball hat, black v-neck T-shirt, blue jeans and running shoes.  He was driving a gray scooter and carrying crutches.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
