Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak Race Car

Specs have yet to be released, but at least we know what name Volkswagen's given to its latest Pikes Peak International Hill Climb entry. The Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak Race Car is a four-wheel-drive, all-electric vehicle with swooping, aerodynamic lines and an oversized rear wing. While we still don't know its horsepower or top speed, we do know it's aiming to set a new record in the electric prototype class, currently set at 8:57 for the 12.4-mile sprint from 9,000 feet to the summit at 14,115 feet above sea level.
