NCAA Scores 2018: First Four Day 1 Results, Updated Bracket and Schedule

St. Bonaventure put together a 12-0 run late in the second half and defeated UCLA 65-58 to survive and advance in the NCAA tournament.

The Bonnies were trailing 51-46 past the midway point in the second half of their First Four game against the Bruins, but St. Bonaventure put the defensive clamps on UCLA and built a 58-51 lead.

UCLA eventually broke through to mount a comeback to tie the game at 58-58, but Jaylen Adams hit a long two-point jump shot that gave St. Bonaventure a two-point lead it would not relinquish.

Adams struggled throughout the game, and he made just two of his 16 shots in the game, but he was able to connect when his teammates needed him the most.

Courtney Stockard keyed the St. Bonaventure attack with 26 points on 9-of-20 shooting. Senior guard Matt Mobley added 14 points points for the Bonnies.

St. Bonaventure moves on to the first round of the tournament and will meet sixth-seeded Florida in Dallas. The Bonnies' victory was the team's first NCAA tournament triumph since 1970. 

UCLA trailed 28-23 at halftime, but the Bruins came back to take the lead in the second half. Aaron Holiday had 20 points to lead UCLA, but he appeared out of control at several points in the game, and he was charged with 10 turnovers.

The Radford Highlanders got the best of the LIU-Brooklyn Blackbirds by a 71-61 margin in the opening First Four game, and the Highlanders will move on to the main draw of the NCAA tournament.

Their reward for the school's first-ever NCAA tournament win: East region No. 1 seed Villanova.

While the Highlanders may not have much of a chance against Jay Wright's talented team, they got the job done against LIU-Brooklyn. Carlik Jones keyed the victory, scoring 12 points, gathering 11 rebounds and handing out seven assists.

Ed Polite Jr. and Travis Fields Jr. scored 13 points each for the victors. Jashaun Agosto led the Blackbirds with 16 points. 

After LIU-Brooklyn took the lead in the second half, Radford responded with a 9-1 surge to regain control. 

"We remained calm," Polite said, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com). "Basketball is about a game of runs. So we knew they're a good team, so they're going to make shots. So we just had to remain focused and go with the game plan. And that's to pressure them even though they're a fast-paced team and don't give them any easy baskets."
