One lucky N.H. ticket wins $570M Powerball jackpot; Fla. player nabs Mega Millions prize

One Powerball ticket sold in New Hampshire has matched all six numbers and will claim a $570 million grand prize.

The winning numbers drawn Saturday night to claim the nation’s seventh-largest jackpot were 12-29-30-33-61 and Powerball 26.

A Powerball winner can choose to receive the jackpot in 30 annual payments or a one-time, lump-sum cash payment.

In Florida, another lucky winner took Friday night's $450 million Mega Millions jackpot.

The Mega Millions pot ballooned after it went untouched since Oct. 13, when it paid out a paltry $42 million.

The Florida Lottery said the winning ticket was bought at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Port Richey. The identity of the winner was not immediately available. However, under Florida law, the person cannot remain anonymous.

The winner’s name, city of residence and details on the winnings can be made public; however, the person's home address and telephone numbers are deemed “confidential.”

Going into the weekend, both Mega Millions and Powerball, the other national lottery game, were stoking their jackpots because of a string of no-wins.

The jackpots refer to the annuity options for both games, in which payments are made over 29 years. Most winners opt for cash options, which would be $281 million for Mega Millions and $358.5 million for Powerball.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are one in 302.5 million. Powerball odds are one in 292.2 million.

According to its website, only three Mega Millions jackpots have been larger than the most recent grand prize: a jackpot of $656 million in 2012; $648 million in 2013; and $536 million in 2016.

The biggest Powerball jackpot ever won was $590.5 million claimed by one ticket-holder in Florida in 2013.

Both games are played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball adds Puerto Rico.
