Love is in the air, literally. Fancy privately chartered jets are being booked last minute with the world’s richest individuals and couples flying as far as the Swiss Alps for some glitz, glamour and romance. While most of the world can only dream of something this extravagant, top global CEO’s, sports stars and A-list film and music celebrities are booking international getaways in the name of love.

We recently received new data from Victor, a private jet charter company that shared where their ultra-high net worth customers are traveling to. According to Victor, the most popular Valentine’s Day destination for the rich and famous this year is London. Year after year, however, they are splurging on trips to Geneva, Switzerland, making it the most popular destination to travel to for Valentine’s. Overall, below is the list of the 8 most popular destinations for Valentine’s Day travel this year based on Victor’s current and previous booking requests.

8. St. Moritz, Switzerland

7. Innsbruck, Austria

6. Chambery, France

5. New York, USA

4. Las Vegas, USA

3. Paris, France

2. London, England

1. Geneva, Switzerland

According to the National Retail Federation, this year’s Valentine’s Day spending is at almost $20 billion among US consumers. The average consumer is spending nearly $145 on their significant others and families. That may seem like a lot, but it pales in comparison to what the world’s richest are shelling out for the fanciest romantic getaways across the world. Valentine’s related charter travel is increasingly popular as Victor has had over 5,000 charter booking requests.

Beyond splurging on private flights, the top 1% also makes expensive and romantic in-flight requests for the most lavish of travel experiences. According to Victor, one client on a flight to Paris requested lunch at a 3 Michelin star restaurant, complete with rose petals on the cabin steps and pink champagne. Another request was to have violinists on board along with long stem roses in anticipation of a wedding proposal. Beyond marriage proposals, some couples choose to shower their pets with love. One charter request to Venice included heart-shaped doggy bowls with gourmet pet food, garnished with edible flowers and accompanied by micro filtered fine-dining water for their beloved dogs. Another very unique request for an intimate vow renewal ceremony, was made by a globetrotting couple that wanted an in-flight experience to reflect their international lifestyle. They requested a plane with a minister to conduct the ceremony and also asked for them to point out sentimental areas they were flying over.
