HUAWEI has proven itself to be a very competitive player in the global marketplace. Not content to simply sell smartphones in a single section, it has branched out of its native China. Not content to ship silicon it doesn’t supply, it has made the Kirin SoC. Not content to just be a single brand, it has a second one, HONOR.

Today, HONOR has officially announced its new V8 smartphone, following copious amounts of leaks – including the TENAA. There are, in fact, three different variants of the same phone.

The premium model will come with a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 X 1440) display, a 2.5GHz Kirin 955 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of on-board storage, a 12-megapixel dual camera implementation on back, an 8-megapixel wide-angle f/2.4 front camera, an IR sensor, a fingerprint sensor, dual SIM support, microSD support, a 3,500mAh battery, HUAWEI fast charging, and Android Marshmallow with the OEM’s EMUI skin overlay. It will retail for 2799 yuan, or roughly $430.

The mid-tier model has all of the above features, but with a few changes: the 5.7-inch display is FHD resolution (1920 X 1080), the SoC is the 2.3GHz Kirin 950 + expanded network support, and the on-board storage is only 32GB. It will retail for 2499 yuan, or roughly $383.

The low-end model has the same base features but uses a 5.7-inch display is FHD resolution (1920 X 1080), a 2.3GHz Kirin 950 SoC and comes with only 32GB of on-board storage. It will retail for 2299 yuan, or $352.

The phones are set to be released in their native home of China on May 17th, and be sold in Ceramic White, Platinum Silver, Rose Gold, Campaign Gold, Ice Silver, and Gray.
