The #1 ranked St. Cloud State University wrestling team extended its winning streak in 2017-18 to 12 matches with a pair of victories at the 2018 Ranger Duals in Kenosha, Wisc. on Satruday, Jan. 13.

The Huskies opened the day with a 29-9 victory over #5 McKendree and then completed the Saturday sweep with a 38-7 win over #16 ranked Findlay.  The Huskies now own a 12-0 record this season and will move into the heart of the NSIC season with dual matches at Minot State on Jan. 19 and Mary on Jan. 20.

SCSU is the six-time defending NSIC champion and the Huskies have note lost a dual match in league competition since an 18-13 loss to Augustana on Jan. 27, 2011.

In action against #5 McKendree, #2 Bret Velasquez opened the day with a 4-0 decision at 125 and #5 James Pleski scored a key 3-1 OT win over #9 Isaiah Kemper of McKendree at 149.   SCSU's #1 ranked Larry Bomstad posted an 8-7 win over #5 Ryan Strope of McKendree at 157, and Devin FitzPatrick scored a win for SCSU at 165.  In a huge victory for the Huskies, #7 Kolton Eischens charted a 15-0 tech fall win over #4 ranked Nick Foster of McKendree.  To wrap up the match, SCSU's Tyree Overton (184), #9 Vince Dietz (197) and #10 Lawrence Phillips (285) all had victories for the Huskies.

The Huskies only lost two matches in action against Findlay at 157 and 184.  Taner Trembley (141), Vince Dietz (197) and Lawrence Phillips (285) all had pins against Findlay, while Brett Velasquez had an 18-0 tech fall at 125.
