Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has rubbished any prospect of Cristiano Ronaldo moving to China after former Guangzhou Evergrande manager Luiz Felipe Scolari revealed the Portuguese superstar had enquired about the possibility.

Per Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo (h/t ESPN.co.uk's Dermot Corrigan), the former Portugal boss recently revealed Ronaldo had asked him "what it is like to live in China," and he advised that he "must come to China."

The comments revived rumours that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner could be destined for the Chinese Super League, but Perez denied the claims and said Ronaldo would see out his current contract to 2021, per Sacha Pisani of Goal: "He hasn't asked us to leave, he has a contract for another year, but when the results are not great. ... If you have a friend who lives in Hong Kong, you ask him how he is in Hong Kong, it's normal [that he would ask Scolari about China]."

Despite now being 33 Ronaldo is still producing for Real.

He endured an underwhelming first half of the season but has netted a staggering 21 goals in 13 appearances in all competitions since the start of 2018.

The former Manchester United man was on target in both legs for Real as they ousted Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, and he will be crucial in the quarter-finals against Juventus as Los Blancos continue their campaign to win the tournament for a third season in a row.

Given Ronaldo is still playing a huge role for Real, it is little surprise Perez has rejected any prospect of him leaving.

It would also be an odd time for the Portugal international to leave the European stage, as he continues, along with Barcelona's Lionel Messi, to dominate the conversation around the world's best player.

Per Corrigan, though, his and Perez's relationship remains strained, and Ronaldo is also involved in an ongoing dispute with Spanish tax authorities.

Despite his every effort to prove the contrary, Ronaldo's performance level will diminish at some point in the near future as he gets deeper into his 30s.

By the time his current deal expires in June 2021, he will be 36, and that could be the moment he opts to leave the Santiago Bernabeu for a final payday in China.
