About the project
JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. seeks to recruit health information system professionals for its Data Use Project (DUP). The goal of the project is to improve collection and use of high-quality routine information; improve the quality, efficiency, and availability of primary health, and nutrition services at all levels of the Ethiopian health system. JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) is a public health management consulting and research organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world.
Summary of Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Regional Coordinator and the central level Technical Specialist HMIS, the Regional Technical Specialist-HMIS will team up with other regional specialists in the respective region to assist the RHB to strengthen the national Health Management Information System (HMIS). Regional Technical Specialist-HMIS will be responsible for promoting the roll-out of the standardized national HMIS and coordinate the HMIS data quality and information use interventions by the Project, and ensure RHB ownership of HMIS and electronic CHIS. He/she will act as a regional master trainer for building the capacity of health managers and staff on HIS management, data quality assurance, data analysis and information use.
Specific Responsibilities
The Regional Technical Specialist - HMIS will work in collaboration with the respective RHB and assist the project team to:
Education
A Master’s in Public Health, Health Informatics, or related field
Experience
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in health management systems, data visualization, analytics experience
Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and DHIS 2, SPPS, EPI Info (advantageous)
Language Proficiency
Excellent verbal and communication skills in English, Amharic, and the official working language of the assignment location (region) of the applicant's choice.
