Ripple bucks the trend in the cryptocurrency space to claim its spot as the third largest cryptocurrency by market cap

The fall in cryptocurrencies continue today, but Ripple is one of the few among the top 50 which is actually holding steady and rising in fact. According to CoinMarketCap, Ripple's price soared to as high as $1.43 in trading yesterday - a jump of more than 20% before settling at $1.30. And today, it's price has gone higher as well to $1.35.

Ripple has been getting a bit of attention in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, its CEO Brad Garlinghouse appeared on CNBC TV to explain the use of Ripple's blockchain technology here.

Also, Tokyo-based SPI Ripple Asia and SBI Holdings - a Japanese financial services firm - released a statement that they will be creating a "consortium" to investigate the role of Ripple's blockchain technology could play in card payments.

That appears to be giving Ripple some form of stability as other cryptocurrencies are having a rough week.
