The Disney Channel has redubbed the voice performance of Louis C.K. in a 2015 episode of their animated show, Gravity Falls, in the wake of sexual harassment allegations brought against the comedian.
C.K. voiced The Horrifying Sweaty One-Armed Monstrosity, a giant disembodied head with an arm growing out of it who asks people to climb into his mouth, in the 2015 episode “Weirdmageddon: Part 1,” as well as its 2016 follow-up, “Weirdmageddon: Part 3.”
“The role was rerecorded approximately one month ago and new versions of three episodes are now on the Disney XD schedule around the world,” a Disney Channels spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. “Series creator and executive producer Alex Hirsch is now credited as playing the character.”
The move is similar to Christopher Plummer replacing Kevin Spacey in the role of J. Paul Getty in Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World, following a similar sexual harassment reckoning for the latter actor. Another comparable move was made in October, when all seven seasons of 30 Rock moved from Netflix to Hulu and, along the way, Chris Brown’s name was edited out of season three, episode 13, titled “Goodbye, My Friend.”
The Gravity Falls redub is below.
