Iskra Lawrence has urged her followers to see past the smile they see in her photos.

When sharing a sizzling bikini snap this week, she revealed that she was actually feeling worse for wear.

The Instagram star, who has 3.8 million followers, has since been praised for showing her fans the “real” her.

On Tuesday, Iskra posted a photo of herself enjoying a splash about in the pool.

But the body-positivity campaigner made it clear that you shouldn’t let the the crystal-clear water and picturesque setting deceive you.

She said: "So this is the insta deal, right now I’m sick (literally was vomiting water up every 10 mins).”

Iskra went on to explain that photos of her down days don’t gain as much attention as those where she’s having fun.

She commented: “No one actually wants to see that (I’m sick).

“This is evident from less engagement compared to pics like this – the highlight reel as I call it.”

The social media influencer confessed that she was occasionally guilty of just posting her happiest moments.

The 27-year-old insisted that she doesn’t get “too upset” that her fans don’t always lap up her more negative posts.

Instead, she urged her followers to remember that what you see online doesn’t always reflect what’s going on in a person’s head.

She said: “It is important to try and live in our truths and also to never compare our life, appearance and 'success' to images we see online – because it’s not always the way it seems.

“Because right now I feel like a mess physically but I want to post this pic where I was in pure joy and feeling so confident and loving life.”

Iskra’s followers praised her for opening up about her life.

One Instagram user said: “Girl I admire you so much for being so honest about you and your life.”

Another added: “We wouldn’t recognise the happy moments if we didn’t have the sad ones.

“Your authenticity is what makes you so beautiful, Iskra, not your bikini.”
