HELP CHANGE the current Animal Welfare Laws in Rhode Island

The Issue

In Warwick, Rhode Island, 6 or more pitbull-type dogs, who are single coat dogs, are heavily chained and forced to live outside tied to dog houses behind an abandoned house, in the brutal winter weather.

The owner/breeder of the dogs, who lives off property, has stated that he is conditioning these dogs to hunt wild boar in Georgia.  Conditioning them in the cold to hunt in the heat??

Currently, RI General Law, regarding Animal Care, allows for a hunting dog exemption, and this owner is very aware of that loophole.  This means anyone stating the dogs are being raised or conditioned for hunting is exempt from protecting them from extreme cold or heat.

With temperatures dipping down to the single digits lately, this has brought outrage from people in Rhode Island and all over the country.  The only way we can stop this is to CHANGE THE LAW.

Please sign this petition to ensure that the Rhode Island General Assembly does everything in their power to amend the current law and make it a crime to keep dogs out in extreme cold or heat.
