Pasadena Man Killed In Chainsaw Accident

A Pasadena man apparently fell off a ladder while trimming a tree with a chainsaw, severing his arm.

PASADENA, CA — The coroner's office Sunday publicly identified a Pasadena man killed in a horrific chainsaw accident. Robert Milliken, 59, apparently fell off his ladder while trimming a tree, severing his arm with a chainsaw in the process.

Milliken's body was found at about 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, outside his house in the 2900 block of New York Drive, according to the coroner's office and Pasadena authorities.

A family member became concerned after not hearing from Milliken in several days, and called the Pasadena police for a welfare check.

"On arrival, officers located the victim, a lifeless male adult," Pasadena police Chief Philip Sanchez said. "Evidence at the scene suggested the victim suffered fatal lacerations while attempting to trim a large tree branch."

According to the authorities, Milliken suffered a severed arm and serious cut to his neck. It appeared he was up on a ladder using a chainsaw when he fell, Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.
