About the Author

Leanne Lauricella knew nothing about animal sanctuary life when she left New York City for the wilds of New Jersey. She started her Instagram account @goatsofanarchy in 2014, shortly after getting her first two goats, Jax and Opie. Over 570,000 Instagram followers and three Webby Awards later, Goats of Anarchy has evolved into a non-profit organization that teaches acceptance and inclusion and provides special-needs goats a happy and loving forever home. Today, Leanne somehow finds time to write about everyday life at her sanctuary while caring for her goat family. She shares with the world her goats' inspiring stories in the books Goats of Anarchy and Peace, Love, Goats of Anarchy and the children’s books Polly and Her Duck Costume, The Goat with Many Coats, Piney the Goat Nanny, and Angel and Her Wonderful Wheels. Goats of Anarchy wall calendars provide a daily reminder of these inspiring stories.

The Goats of Anarchy Story

In 2014 Leanne Lauricella fell in love with goats and her life was changed forever. She walked away from a lucrative corporate career in NYC, ditched the Mercedes, and built a goat sanctuary in rural New Jersey where goats with special needs could find a home. Lauricella began documenting her unconventional new life on Instagram, amassing more than half a million followers on @GoatsOfAnarchy.

Fans worldwide follow the stories of each goat—the antics of Ansel the destroyer, the model looks of Frankie with the good hair, and sweet little Lawson who had a dire heart condition. Goat lovers check in for a daily dose of goat personalities mixed with the struggles of rehabilitation and rescue. The goats and other animals, typically rescued from abandonment or mistreatment, find a home on one of Lauricella’s two farms where each animal gets care for their special needs.

Prosthetics and carts are provided for goats with missing or deformed legs, and indoor care for new baby goats, goats requiring intensive medical care or terminal illness. The goats’ stories have created a passionate and fast-growing following that serves to help financially support the upkeep of the farm and vet bills for Lauricella’s special needs brood. Reading through comments on @GoatsOfAnarchy posts, there are countless people who share how Lauricella’s stories of acceptance, encouragement, and love have impacted lives.

Lauricella encourages a vegan lifestyle and is vocal about animal rights issues. www.goatsofanarchy.com

Prospect the goat is easily cherished and adored

Prospect the goat is easily cherished and adored
My husband and I have read this to our little one around 10 times so far in the last month because of how much he enjoys hearing about Prospect the goat. This is based on a true story and it is told in a loving way and is easily remembered. We frequently go hiking and see a herd of goats and as we walk. They are affectionate and walk up to the fence to see us. I tell my little one the story of Prospect and I am easily able to do so. I tell him about a cold and lonely little goat who gets a loving home and becomes warm and strong. The outer shell of the book has stood up to our little one and the pages are crisp and strong. The pictures are whimsical and cute yet they are realistic. This is a great book and would be a great gift.

A true story of a little turd who bit my leg because he wasn't happy about not finding something interesting in my pocket. xD

Just like the book about Polly, this one has fantastic illustrations and a cute, short story about one of the Goats of Anarchy goats. It was a lot of fun reading about Prospect when he was little, since I haven't been following GOA long enough to have seen him then. I got to meet him while volunteering and he has grown a lot more feisty than he is depicted in the book! I can't recommend this book and GOA enough. Definitely worth a purchase, whether for kids or adults who just love goats.

I am a Goats of Anarchy devoted follower, I have loved learning about this amazing, sanctuary and wanted to share that with my grand niece. I sent her each of Leannes children books, all based on true stories of just a few of the animals she has rescued from certain death.
My niece said the books are a hit with my grand niece, she even wanted to be a cute little goat this past October. I recommend these books and the sanctuary where these stories come from❤️

The stories are both charming and inspirational. The organization is beyond amazing in what is has been able to do
to provide happy, healthy lived for animals that would otherwise be slaughtered! It certainly opens an awareness to these realities.
