Tokyo's main index closes lower on the day, still failing to crack above 23,000

Asian stocks are mostly up on the day, taking a cue from US equities as the Nasdaq at one point touched above the 7,000 mark. But the Nikkei is not following suit as it closes lower on the day - still unable to find a way to close above the 23,000 level this year.
