Radio Graphics

I spotted this eye-catching collection of American Radio displays from the 1930s – 1940s, collected together by John Grimwade. We’ve come such a long way in terms of modern interface design but there’s still a beauty to these designs. Kilocycles, megacycles and references to the past British Empire and Formosa.

There’s an interesting variety of typeface styles – I assume chosen for their clarity at these small sizes – that includes both serif and sans serif, narrow, tabular etc.
