After the ACL injury to quarterback Carson Wentz, the Eagles have now turned to backup quarterback Nick Foles for the remainder of the season.
The move to Foles also means that, heading into this Sunday, the top three teams all have one thing in common -- they are all led by a quarterback that was once coached by Jeff Fisher.
A common thread that actually could be a sign of good things to come for the Eagles.
Although the Eagles hold the top seed in the NFC, the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams are right behind them. Both Vikings quarterback Case Keenum and Rams quarterback Jared Goff were coached by Fisher during the 2016 season, prior to Fisher being fired.
With Fisher out of the picture, both Goff and Keenum are having the best seasons of their careers.
Could Foles be next?
A look at the splits of the games where Foles has had Fisher as his head coach, and when he hasn't, should be encouraging for the Eagles.
With Fisher:
Record: 4-7
TD/INT: 7-10
Passer Rating: 69.0
Without Fisher:
Record: 16-9
TD/INT: 49-17
Passer Rating: 94.8
Eagles fans should be well aware of how well Foles can play without Fisher as his head coach, as he led them to the NFC East title back in 2013, and went 6-2 in 2014 before going down with a shoulder injury.
Can Foles recapture the magic of his first go-around with the Eagles, and will he be the next quarterback to flourish without Fisher as their head coach?
The Eagles will start to find out this Sunday against the Giants.
