Rate this book
Tarzan has long been the protector of his jungle stronghold... but now he journeys deep into his enemy's territory: the heart of London! Half a world away and nearly a century later, Sheena battles foes of her own when she is mysteriously swept through time and space to 1930's Africa, leaving her own land unprotected. Will these two Lords of the Jungle find enough common ground to join forces? Or will the resulting culture clash lead to mutual destruction?
For the first time ever, literary great Edgar Rice Burroughs' Lord of the Jungle teams up with Sheena, the Queen of the Jungle created by comic book legends Will Eisner and Jerry Iger!

Not for me, the story just didn't work for me neither was I especially impressed by the art. And, Sheena's outfit through the issues baffled me. I mean it hardly covered the body and still manage to cover the naughty bits despite her moving around a bit (liked it was glued to her body). It felt like reading a graphic novel that would appeal to teenage boys. LOL!

'Lords of the Jungle' by Corinna Sara Bechko with art by Roberto Castro is a team up between Sheena Queen of the Jungle and Tarzan Lord of the Apes. I like both properties, but this story just didn't do it for me.d

Sheena and Tarzan are from two different times, so some magical time travel has to occur. Sheena's jungle is in trouble and in her pursuit of the bad guys, she finds herself in Tarzan's jungle, but Tarzan isn't there. She meets up and befriends Cheetah and an elephant. She gets transport on a ship to London with a circus where she finally meets Tarzan.

Through this whole adventure, Sheena where's a skimpy outfit, and yet, no one in the 1930s world of Tarzan thinks it is strange or even stares at her. There is also an environmental message that fell a bit flat for me. It takes a while for the team up to finally happen, and it just felt underwhelming to me. The story and art were just not impressive. I wanted something better with these two characters meeting.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Dynamite Entertainment, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

One thing about this series made it over the top good, when Sheena and Jane meet there is no cattiness or fighting over Tarzan - they act like two adult women. Amazing concept, wonder how the editor felt about Bechko using skill instead of laziness to tell the story? sorry, i'm assuming the editor was male.

Warning: Don’t be fooled by the cover, this is a Sheena, Queen of the Jungle book plain and simple. Cheetah makes a greater appearance in this than Tarzan or Jane. If you aren’t a Sheena fan, this isn’t for you. The Greystoke’s brief role is not going to satisfy.

On to Sheena, I am a fan and this is an unusual interpretation for me, still enjoyable as a Jungle human goes to the big city trope. Sheena always seemed more worldly wise to me, but there is a strong, consistent narrative with sensible solutions to every problem, some cool fight scenes, well designed villains, and an elephant rampaging spectacularly in every issue. If you want more than that out of a Jungle comic we can’t be friends.

Sheena and Tarzan, despite the different time periods, team up to fight environmental abuse. Sheena magically travels from the Amazon to Africa, where there’s a similar problem with exploitation, but must take a ship to London like a mortal when she’d trying to get Tarzan involved. She even joins the circus.
There’s a few major problems with this treatment of the legends. For one thing, it looks completely ridiculous to have Sheena talking out loud while she’s fighting. But the biggest complaint I have with this. . . I get that a woman wrote this and doesn’t want this to be a focus, but the fact no man, particularly the bad guys, even mentions the fact she’s a gorgeous blonde scantily clad in a few scraps of leopard skin is unbelievable, and so unrealistic it’s a huge distraction. And by the way, she’s actually more attractive in shorts and shirt. More than anything, though, there’s far too much talk. Not that there isn’t action, but the exposition is shoved down the reader’s throat.
I did like the twist that had them traveling to yet another time frame. “The future is. . . not very clean.” But the sad fact is this could have and should have been better.

Lords of the Jungle is a story that goes beyond what you might expect! Sheena runs into trouble while fending off developers deep in the heart of the Amazon jungle. She winds up miles and years away from home in a land protected by the one and only, Tarzan.

Tarzan has been a familiar character since my childhood, but never have I seen him in such a fantastic story. He is more than the ape man as he ventures to his ancestral home of London, seeking the cause of disruption in his home. The road to bringing peace to his beloved jungle is not easy as he must face an unfamiliar foe from the future and the hostile Leopard Men of his own time.

Lords of the Jungle is intriguing because readers get, not only an action filled plot, but a cast of characters with explosive personalities. With elements of time travel and adventure blended into a fast-paced tale, readers will enjoy every second!

Lords of the Jungle by Corinna Sara Bechko et. al. is a free NetGalley e-comicbook that I read in early October.

Beyond its simplified Realistic, everybody (even an elephant) has an outstanding stack of muscles drawing style, its cast of a few dozen people that're a little hard to keep track of, and readers wondering how exactly Sheena's top stays fastened in place, it's a pretty great comic book. The story is relatively comprehensive and its palette is ruddy, gritty, sandy, and pipes up with bold colors whenever there's a threat to the jungle or a villain storms around the corner (such as the mysterious dragon lady, Laine).

I was surprised by how much I liked this series. Usually series featuring Tarzan are boring, but this held my attention raptly. Sheena is really the star of the show here. Even the time travel elements added so that Tarzan and Sheena could meet worked well.

Good read

Grew up on Tarzan books , movies etc. Enjoyed it. Watched Sheena as well on tv. Couldn't resist both of them working together to save the jungle.
