Lake Como Wedding Inspiration at an Italian Villa with a Stunning Gold Gown

Lake Como Wedding Inspiration

Today on Green Wedding Shoes it’s all about Italy! Jen + Jason hopped over to Lake Como for By the Lake to workshop with creatives in one of the dreamiest places on earth! Three days and one George Clooney spotting later (SERIOUSLY), the team produced two absolutely gorgeous styled shoots–and we’re so excited to finally share them here on GWS! First up: it’s classic Italy, with a bridal shoot at Villa Regina Teodolinda. (Come back later today as we venture to the mountains for part II!)

Lilly of Lilly Red Creative, our host and a native of Lake Como, has the story behind the day:

The inspiration comes from a place where I am from. Where I used to spend my springtime with my family, playing inside the cool water and chasing after the ducks. This place is Lake Como. Inspired by beautiful paintings and the watercolor backgrounds of Villa Regina Teodolinda, this was the perfect spot to frame our editorial. We wanted to bring a California feeling to Italy while keeping the elegance of this beautiful, moody lake.

With design + styling by Christine Cater, the day was simply idyllic. So, take a trip with us via photos from Lilly Red Creative to beautiful Lake Como!

Meghan Miniello‘s romantic script invitation suite hints at whimsy, adventure, and travel. The stamps themselves are works of art!

gold heels

Okay–we’re obsessed with these shoes! They are Peony in gold by Harriet Wilde available at Bride’s LA Boutique and they just so happen to perfectly compliment the Emily Riggs dress:

Lilly notes: Our bride had a Bric’s travel bag with her, beautiful bags made in Como that every bride and traveler should have for their escape in Italy.

Her accessories were nothing short of dramatic, donning the Venice drop veil from Emily Riggs, and a long, striking necklace and stunning ring from Fourtane, a boutique in Carmel by the Sea.

We’re in awe of Christine Cater‘s floral talents! And WOW just wait until you see what she pulled together for the ceremony site…

As for the groom…

Andrea, the groom, arrived by boat from Bellagio. He was radiant in a rich burgundy handmade suit from Bergamo, provided by the innovative Linnèo Archivable Clothing. So elegant and perfectly paired with her golden dress.

Can you even believe this view?!

The ceremony was set up to view the lake so that you can almost feel to touch the mountains on the other side. The combination of different chairs and couches helped to create a unique style by using the villa’s actual furniture pieces (the perfect number of seats for a small elopement).

Both the ceremony site florals and bouquet were made by the talented Christine Cater. She was able to combine local greenery with colorful flowers inspired by Fiamminghi painters, plus a little Californian WOW. The result was just perfect.

The table was an example of a new era where you can mix different elements and still have a unique and elegant setup. The hand dyed silk from tono & co offered a touch of autumn in this October inspiration.

The candy table is a very traditional Italian touch! Pastiglie Leone, since 1857, is one of the most famous producers of of yummy Italian candy and gave us a nice change from the usual Italian confetti table. The cake was by Qualcosa di dolce and was inspired by the pattern of the walls inside the villa.

Isn’t it gorgeous?

Lilly finishes: Italy’s romantic, elegant atmosphere was the perfect backdrop for the first By the Lake Workshop. It was the right balance of strategy and creativity, leaving everyone inspired and part of an intimate community where we can push and support each other to become better.
