$240 for a first date is a lot, but we're totally into being wooed by a wealthy business man a la Edward Lewis.

According to a dubious new study, guys who take you on high-rolling dates are looking for more of a commitment than a guy who is an el cheapo.

WhatsYourPrice.com, an online dating site where members can bid on a chance at a first date (LOL, REALLY?!), conducted a two-year study with their American male members to determine the correlation between first date spending and relationship outlook.

Nationally, men spend an average of $80 on a first date. But in this study, guys who spent thrice as much ($240 or more) increased their chances of being in a serious relationship by 34 percent. And guys who spent below $80 were more likely to be sexually promiscuous than the ones who decided to pay a little extra.

"The amount a man spends on a first date indicates his level of sincerity towards building a serious/lasting relationship," says Brandon Wade, Founder and CEO of WhatsYourPrice.com "That is not to say that men should always spend the same amount as they did for the first date. However, to leave a good impression, men need to do, what I call, 'The Peacock Dance' to show they are good providers and therefore viable mates."

Okay. There's no doubt that a guy should go out of his way to impress you on the first date (and continue to wow you). But him spending more than $80 on your first date doesn't necessarily mean he wants to wife you up. It's your first freaking date.

I enjoy being treated like the queen I think I am. But if some guy was shelling out close to $300 on me for our first date, I would think that he was just trying to be a show off and values money over love. My love don't cost a thing! Yet on the other end, if a dude isn't willing to wine and dine me properly, I'd think he was a cheap muhfucca and might skimp on other places in the relationship...like the bedroom. NO. THANK YOU.

Do you think how much a guy spends on your first date can tell if you two will become serious?
