Arroyo on overnight stay at hospital for executive check-up

Former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo used the first few hours of her new-found freedom getting an executive check-up at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City, an ex-Cabinet official said.

Arroyo would be staying overnight at the hospital to complete the process which includes chest X-Ray, 2D Echo, ECG, and liver ultrasound, according to former Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera.

On Friday, Arroyo is scheduled to have blood tests and electromyography, a report by Athena Imperial on Unang Balita said.

The former President is accompanied by her daughter Luli, the TV report said.

Devanadera said she has no information yet as to when Arroyo will be discharged from the hospital.

Arroyo was previously diagnosed with cervical spondylosis.

Before this, Arroyo spent some time with her family at her residence in La Vista Subdivision, also in Quezon City, following her release from the Veterans Memorial Medical Center where she was under hospital arrest for four years due to a plunder case. Arroyo was accused of embezzling P366 million in intelligence funds of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office from 2008 to 2010.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court dismissed the cases against Arroyo and former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office budget officer Benigno Aguas for insufficient evidence. Aguas walked out of the Philippine National Police Custodial Center also on Thursday evening.
