On the eve of Comic-Con, iconic creator Stan Lee has unveiled “Nitron” as a new comic-book character franchise aimed at feature films, TV and digital platforms.

Lee, the creator of such characters as Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, X-Men, the Avengers and Iron Man, is partnering with Keya Morgan and Michael Benaroya on “Nitron,” which revolves around a highly intelligent and advanced species of Nitronians who covertly live on modern day Earth.

The comic-book will serve as the source material for film, TV and digital adaptations produced by Benaroya Pictures. The company said Tuesday it has secured an initial $50 million fund to finance the development and production with Benaroya as an anchor investor.

Benaroya, Lee and Morgan are writing the content and will be producers. Benaroya Publishing will release the comic-books in January as a six-volume series with subsequent issues to come out on a monthly basis.

“It’s a pleasure to partner with Michael Benaroya and Keya Morgan on ‘Nitron,'” said Lee. “I am excited for everyone to explore the amazing world of ‘Nitron’ with us.”
