Paint can transform the entire look of a room—so much, in fact, that it can actually affect your home’s value. Zillow studied tens of thousands of sold homes around the U.S. to see how the paint colors of certain rooms affected the home’s sale price.
Zillow Digs analyzed the photos from nearly 50,000 homes to see how room color corresponded to sale price. For example, they found that homes with yellow kitchens sold for $1,360 more than expected values, while light gray living rooms sold for $1,104 more.
Of course, it’s impossible to say the home sold for more or less explicitly because of paint color—the data simply point out the numbers. Experts do point out, however, that paint color can indeed affect your home’s selling price. Here are some additional findings from the study:
