Conceptualised based on bistronomy, the Bistro de l’Arc located near the Arc de Triomphe and Place de l’Etoile in Paris’ chic 16th arrondissement reinvents dishes and flavours from traditional French cuisine. For its interior design, French interior designer Sophie Jacqmin was called upon to create a warm and welcoming space that corresponds with its unique gastronomical offerings. Using a lively palette matched with interesting textures, Jacqmin revisited with finesse, the codes of a classic bistro using noble materials such as brass and marble.

Here, colours work effectively to create a vibrant atmosphere. Through a combination of yellows and blues against reflective surfaces offset by wood panels, the designer successfully brings out a contemporary feel without overpowering the space with too many details. Above, the ceiling rolls out line after line of inspirational quotes, to create a linear focal point that beautifully ties the different elements together. Right next to the dining area, an island counter neatly tucks a bar decked in glass and chrome towards the side, creating a cleaner layout.

Overall, the space is a chic setting that mixes classic decor with a touch of eccentricity – the incorporation of design elements that evoke cinema, jazz music and poetry further add on a unique appeal that eases the eyes immediately.

Coming back to its menu, seasonal produce is emphasized – the quality and origin of these ingredients relate to the bistro’s respect for nature and the environment by focusing on sustainable farming and seasonality, all of which is orchestrated by Angie Fouquoire, an up-and-coming young chef who’s trained at the best restaurants in Paris such as Maison Blanche, Plaza AthОnОe and HЩtel de Crillon of wine accompanied by a cigar on the terrace.
