ANAHEIM, California -- Apparently, Facebook wants to be a little more like Snapchat.

At VidCon on Thursday, Facebook announced that people using the face filters on the MSQRD app will be able to go live on Facebook directly from within the app.

Facebook acquired MSQRD -- which is a "masquerade" face-tracking and 3D face-placement app -- in March.

Since then, they have been working to build their imaging technology to Live, Facebook’s director of product, Fidji Simo, said at VidCon.

The feature will start rolling out globally on iOS in the next few weeks.

The news comes just hours after AOL launched a new face-tracking app called Switch with Kanvas, the photo-editing service it acquired in 2015.

Simo said that later this summer, Facebook will make it possible for users to go live with another person. That means influencers who utilize the platform can potentially go live with a friend or a fan, adding a new interactive element to broadcasts.

Soon broadcasters will be able to schedule a live video as well, giving fans a heads up about upcoming broadcasts.
