Incoming Labor secretary wants DOLE name changed

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) may be renamed under the Duterte administration, incoming Labor Secretary Silvestro Bello III said Tuesday.

"I'm suggesting later for DOLE to probably be 'Department of Labor and Management' or 'Department of Labor and Employer'," Bello told reporters in a press conference in Davao City.

He said this is to give focus to management, which seemed to be neglected under the current department name, making it "one-sided," according to Bello.

Bello, currently the 1-BAP party-list representative, gave up his reelection to help in Duterte's campaign. 

He has earlier said that ending contractualization will be one of the priorities under his leadership. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/KBK, GMA News
