DJ EZ's favourite tracks

This article is more than 10 years old
The garage legend, technical genius and Fabric mix star shares the contents of his psychic record bag. Warning: contains Aqua

The track I'll be opening my next DJ set with
EZ: Intro 10

I always open my sets with one of my self-produced intros – it'll be either this or number seven.

The track I always play to rescue a dancefloor
Double 99: RIP Groove

Still going strong: a mainstay in my sets for 15 years now.

The track I wish I'd signed to my label
Daniel Bedingfield: Gotta Get Thru This

I was fortunate to be given this track by Daniel himself before any other DJ; my label was not set up at the time and yes, I am still kicking myself about this!

The track I think has been unfairly slept on this year
Nirvana: Smells Like Teen Spirit (Dare Me remix)

Still bewildered by the lack of uptake on this amazing garage/jackin remix to be honest.

The track I'd play to show off my eclectic tastes
Röyksopp: Remind Me

I'm a massive Röyksopp fan. I love every track they've made.

The ideal festival track
Storm Queen: Look Right Through (Element Z remix)

The original has been a massive track since 2012 and this powerful 2-step remix has given me the option to play this one within the peak of my sets.

The best track by my favourite new artist
DJ Q: Dance With Me

DJ Q has entered my favourite artists list as he's churning out great music; this rework of The Sound Of Eden by Shades Of Rhythm gets a 10 out of 10 score from me.

The track I'd play at my auntie's wedding
Bette Midler: To Deserve You (MK remix)

One of my aunts is a UK garage head from back in the day and loves this; what a track.

The track I wish I'd never played
Aqua: Barbie Girl

Early in my career I was a resident for a West End venue which attracted tourists and a very commercial crowd. So alongside house and garage I would play chart tracks, including this. Say no more.

The track that should have been a crossover hit
Bo Saris: The Addict (Todd Edwards remix)

I've been ending my radio shows with this for weeks now, which should be played across various scenes.

The track I'd play at my funeral
Living In A Box: Living In A Box

As I'm an 80s fan, It would have to be Living In A Box; I just hope I don't end up in a cardboard one (those that know the track will get the little joke there).
